A two megapixel camera has been included, which would normally be consigned to the container marked 'unremarkable' and unfortunately Sony Ericsson seem to think that as well. The camera on the W910i deals adequately with normal light conditions, but the W910i does have trouble with dark conditions as it does not have a flash. There is also no autofocus feature so the camera is average at best. The photo browsing functionality, on the other hand, is fantastic. Looking through your shots is easy and there are a number of options which enable you to customize your snaps. You can set slideshows up with fitting music and even send your photos direct to a blog.

One of the draws that the W910i possesses is HSDPA compatibility. This enables you to download tracks over the air at broadband speed. It also takes mobile web browsing to a new level, without the jarring frustrations that it previously brought about.

The W910i includes 40MB of internal memory which is upgradeable using the memory stick micro (or M2) card slot. This brings us to the primary function of any walkman phone and the W910i does not disappoint. The W910i has the same software, such as trackID, that made the W850i such a success but it improves on them in subtle ways. The latest version of disc 2 phone for instance, manages to add to a winning formula.

The E63 is Nokia's latest addition to the E-Series of business smartphones, following on from the well-received E71. The same BlackBerry-esque full QWERTY keypad remains and save for the exclusion of a secondary front-facing camera (present on the E71), which means no video calls, it's business as usual.

Details are sketchy at the moment, having been inferred mostly from a spy shot taken at a recent conference and a leaked Nokia XML document. According to rumours and visible information gleaned from the for the moment solitary screenshot (see right), the E63 is a Wi-Fi enabled handset which is said to have a (rear mounted) camera, which is reported to be a 2 Megapixeler, again keeping in line with the BlackBerry way of doing things. What we remember from our GCSE German lessons leads us to beleive that there might be some sort of VoIP feature included, suggested by the bit which reads 'Internet-Telefon eine' in the centre of the screen. Please don't quote us on this (yet!).*

Bluetooth 2.0 is naturally expected to come included, as is HSDPA 3G connectivity for fast email transfer. A 3.5mm audio socket means you can plug in your own earphones for music on the move, and the phone's left-hand side is said to feature a microSD memory card slot; you would expect that the E63 would be able to at least equal the maximum 2GB you can fit into the E71, especially considering the fact that the BlackBerry Bold and Storm handsets can be expanded up to 8GB and 16GB respectively.

Unfortunately, this is all the concrete info that's available on the E63 so far; there is (strong) speculation that this new E-Series handset will be available in two versions, one sans camera and one with, due to the fact that many business users are forbidden by their employees from carrying cameraphones, for security and privacy reasons.

Hopefully Nokia will come up with the goods and release some official spec and pricing details sometime soon.

Nokia's latest slimline Blackberry-esque E-series PDA-cum-smartphone offering appears to be little more than a thinner, more compact version of the E61 in a neat little steel jacket; the E71 however does not suffer from any of the performance problems which blighted its predecessors and runs like a charm.

Memory, the chief bugbear of previous E-series handsets has received especial attention - 110MB of internal memory comes included, but this can be given the full 8GB treatment thanks to microSD card expansion. Mobile email is the cornerstone of the E71's functions, as it supports a wide range of personal and corporate email standards such as Microsoft Exchange, Google's Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, Visto Mobile, System Seven, Hotmail, and Nokia's own Intellisync Wireless Email.

At this point, it's worth mentioning that Nokia have declined to include support for BlackBerry Connect, kind of a bummer, but seeing as Nokia are now offering their own Intellisync push email service, you can see why they haven't included this - it would be like having an N95 8GB with integrated support for iTunes. This should be news to no-one, as the company announced that as of the E66 and E71, they would not be offering Blackberry Connect support. Still, with the various other email standards available, cross-platform comms shouldn't be a problem.

The tactile QWERTY keyboard, whilst crammed into a much smaller space than that of the E61, is easy to use, despite our initial fears that it would be far too small. Tapping out emails is not an ergonomic squeeze-fest, the keys depress nicely and firmly, so there's little chance of making a mistake.

The E71 also comes with a GPS receiver which is pretty decent, although not as streamlined as some of the sat-nav phones available, such as Nokia's own 6210 Navigator. Load times can be mitigated by using A-GPS (Assisted GPS), but this can cost you extra, depending on what contract/data rate you are on. The E71 also comes with Nokia Maps 2.0 pre-installed, which is nice. Extras such as up to date traffic information and voice-guided route planning are available, albeit sold separately.

We've yet to mention the 2.4" QVGA display, through which web pages and roadmaps are both legible without having to peer intensely and are a joy to scroll through - like many of the QVGA displays of the recent batch of Nokia handsets, the E71's screen is capable of kicking out maps, pages and images in some 16 million colours.

Speaking of which, the E71 also comes with an LED-flash enhanced 3.2 Megapixel camera with autofocus which takes decent pics that don't look at all bad on the big(ish) display. Again, whilst it's not the best camera going by any means, its certainly a nice addition to a smartphone handset which is primarily geared for practically every mobile email standard going. A music player, capable of handling MP3, WMA, AAC and eAAC along with an FM radio comes bundled for additional audio enjoyment.

Talk time for voice is around 10 and a half hours (with around 400 hours of standby time) which is really impressive considering the number of features bolted on to the E71.
